Jointly with Unilever’s Love, Beauty and Planet, we are proud to announce that we were awarded the Grand Packaging Cases Award, presented by EmbalagemMarca. These awards aim to highlight Brazilian packaging that improves the lives of consumers. Together, we developed an innovative, sustainable concept which allows for consumers to refill their empty shampoo and conditioner bottles from a bag-in-box system mounted at strategic points of sale. This allowed consumers not only to buy their hair care products at a discount, but also to reduce their plastics use. Focused on conversion and customer loyalty, this new format also allowed packages from other brands to be exchanged free of charge for empty bottles of Love, Beauty and Planet, which could then be filled at the stations.
The bag-in-box solution utilized in this project considers the use of material, in order to reduce the impact on the environment, as compared to rigid bottles. This new package features:
The consumption of plastic is one of the issues of most concern when it comes to sustainability. According to WWF information, 40% of the current production of plastics in the world is for the use of unique items.* That creates a lot of waste. To mitigate the issue of plastics consumption in Brazil, Love, Beauty and Planet developed a hair care refill station. To encourage consumers to recycle, they offer a discount upon recycling of shampoo and conditioner bottles – even if they’re not Love, Beauty and Planet-branded.
The Grand Packaging Cases Award aims to encourage and value the search for excellence in Brazilian packaging, rewarding those that stand out for optimizing the set of its elements or, in isolation, one of more of them that have decisive weight for obtaining positive results for the user company and the end consumer. The following criteria were evaluated for the award:
