Has Recycling Become A Loaded Word?

November 17, 2022

Recycling loaded wordRecycling is a sometimes overused word. A good chunk of the world’s 2.24 billion tons of solid waste generated annually comes from plastic in packaging materials, but only 9% of globally produced plastic is recycled. That means there’s lots of work to do, but luckily, more and more people are thinking about reducing waste throughout the supply chain: new regulations encourage manufacturers to reduce their environmental footprint, and brands are turning to responsibly made and sourced packaging more than ever.

Scholle IPN and SIG already set the bar high to reduce our environmental impact. For example, SIG’s Net Positive plan aims to innovate an aseptic carton with over 90% fiber content suitable for paper recycling streams by 2030.
